Chi-Kung

What is Chi-Kung ?

Chi-kung means 'Energy Work' or Energy Skill'. It dates back more than 5000 years and until recently it was a secret kept within Chinese family lineages. In its most accessible form Chi-Kung is a health system working on body and mind, de-stressing and energising the body, boosting the immune system helping to overcome and prevent stress and illness. You can achieve the well-being it produces through simple, gentle movements and visualisations. The deeply relaxing sessions are suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness

The system being taught is unique in that it has been put together specifically for western people who are always stressed and have little free time.

There are three levels to this practice which include visualisation and various breathing techniques. Basic self-massage is also taught at the early stages of training. You don't have to be fit or particularly dexterous to carry out these movements and there are only twenty-four. Just enough to get the job done.

Chi-Kung Movement Body

Body Section

In this section we emphasise movement. The function of this, is to clear the restrictions and blockages of energy in the body which lead to imbalances that can manifest as diseases of mind or body - especially those blockages caused by  Stress. Thus bringing the body into balance. The emphasis here is on health.

Energy Section

This section consists mainly of static postures. The function of this is to strengthen the body without all the sweaty aerobics bit, improving the flow of energy throughout the body and eventually increasing the body's capacity to hold energy. The emphasis here is on long life and vitality.

Chi-Kung Movement Mind

Mind Section

This section consists of two parts - an Inner and Outer one. In the outer part, we learn methods of controlling and transforming the emotions at will as well as techniques for increasing the body's capacity to heal itself. In the Inner part, various techniques of breath purification and control are taught and we learn how to develop Calm, Awareness and Clarity through meditation.

The aim of the system is to give the practitioner clear precise methods of obtaining control over their body, energy and mind. In Chi-kung training it is said that 'The method must fit the student and not the student the method', therefore  this unique system can be practiced whether you are young, elderly, fit or unfit, during pregnancy, and it is also suitable for people in wheelchairs - upper mobility.
